Let the good vibes roll.

Neon Trees – Everybody Talks

With its pulsing energy and catchy melody, Neon Trees’ 2011 hit Everybody Talks offers up happiness in spades. The song was released as the lead single from the band’s second album Picture Show and quickly rose to number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 — making it the band’s first top 10 hit.

According to frontman Tyler Glenn, the song was inspired by pop music from the early 60s, as well as Roy Orbison and the Motown era. However, despite its sunny disposition, Everybody Talks delves quite deep in its subject matter: The song is about lust, and how meddling gossip can completely derail a relationship.

Stereophonics – Have A Nice Day

With a title like Have A Nice Day, it should come as no surprise that Stereophonics’ 2001 feel-good hit made it onto this list. The Welsh band was inspired to create the song after a cab driver in San Francisco complained about hating the city during the ride, then ended the conversation by saying, “That’ll be seven bucks, have a nice day”.

Have A Nice Day feels like the musical equivalent of jumping in a convertible and driving along the coastline. Infused with the feeling of summer, the song’s signature ‘ba-ba-ba’ line and singer Kelly Jones’ gritty vocals will have you singing along before you know it.

Electric Light Orchestra – Mr. Blue Sky

There’s nothing quite like the feeling of looking at a beautiful blue sky, and Electric Light Orchestra captures this sentiment perfectly in this 1977 hit. Mr. Blue Sky was first released as part of the band’s seventh album Out of the Blue, and since then has gone on to become ELO’s signature song.

Lead singer Jeff Lynne was inspired to write Mr. Blue Sky after seeing the sun shining in the French Alps. With its cello-stop chorus, funky guitar solo, and pounding-piano lines, this miniature pop symphony exudes joy in every beat.

Boy Pablo – Dance, Baby!

Boy Pablo’s 2017 indie dance tune is infectious, catchy and a little bit cheesy—but that’s what makes it the perfect mood booster if you’re feeling down. Described as ‘dream pop’ and ‘bedroom pop’, Dance, Baby! is the type of track you blast in your room at full volume as you get down like nobody’s watching.

Colony House – You Know It

From the second you press play on You Know It, you know what the ‘it’ in the title is referring to—the carefree feeling of youth. Alternative indie band Colony House transports listeners to the shores of San Francisco with this upbeat track about life on the road.

You Know It is equal parts energetic and unpredictable. The driving guitar and drums exude a classic surf-rock vibe, while the changing flow of the song keeps you on your toes from start to finish. And if you’re wondering why this hit sounds so familiar, here’s a hint: You Know It was featured on a 2016 Samsung holiday commercial, and it’s a common background song on TikTok.

Dayglow – Can I Call You Tonight?

20-year-old Sloan Struble is the musical talent behind Dayglow, an indie-pop project that’s all about creating songs to make you feel good about yourself. Often described as the antidote to the Billie-Eilish style of dark pop, Dayglow’s music is brimming with optimism, imagination, and a degree of undeniable sincerity that just makes you want to smile.

Can I Call You Tonight was released in 2019 as part of the artist’s debut album Fuzzybrain. Since then the song has found a cult following online on platforms like Spotify and YouTube, thanks to its reverb-soaked vocals and quirky music video.

Dreebsby – Cigarettes with Wine

Dreebsby is the alias of Singapore-based singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Sam P. Blurring the lines between indie pop and pop-rock, Dreebsby’s music is brimming with a charm and energy that’s utterly infectious—and Cigarettes with Wine is no exception. The song combines high-energy guitar with a subtle bassline and a touch of trombone, for a funk-meets-rock song that’s perfect for jamming out and feeling good.

Wallows – These Days

Since 2017, Wallows has made waves in the indie music scene for their breezy, Cali-inspired retro sound. Formed by Braeden Lemasters, Cole Preston, and 13 Reasons Why actor Dylan Minnett, the band has made it to the Spotify Global Viral 50 playlist, released their debut album, played at Coachella, and toured the U.S. and Canada in a series of sold-out concerts.

These Days was released as part of the band’s debut EP Spring and quickly became a cult favorite for its laid-back, springtime vibe. With its unique blend of guitar, drums, keyboards, and the piccolo, this upbeat track is sure to put you in a cheerful mood.

girl in red – we fell in love in october

Love can make us feel on top of the world—which is why it’s no surprise that a song about love has the potential to instantly lift our spirits. Norwegian indie-pop singer Marie Ulven (also known by her stage name ‘girl in red’) captures the euphoric feeling that comes with finding that someone special in her 2018 anthem “We fell in love in October”.

Featuring synthesizers, electric guitar, and Ulven’s dream-like vocals, this bedroom pop anthem will make you want to dance around your room like a teenager in a romcom.

Bleachers – Rollercoaster

Bleachers is the stage name of Jack Antonoff, an indie-pop artist based in New Jersey. A singer, songwriter, record producer, Antonoff has been involved in the music industry for over two decades: he has produced songs for Taylor Swift, Lorde, Lana Del Rey, and St. Vincent, and is the guitarist and drummer for indie-rock band fun.
Rollercoaster was released in 2014 on Bleachers’ debut album Strange Desire and went on to be featured on the 2018 romance movie Love Simon, as well as the popular Netflix series 13 Reasons Why. According to Antonoff, the goal of the song was to channel his inner Springsteen in a modern take on Dancing In The Dark. The result: a catchy summer anthem that you can listen to, time and time again.
